NOTICE OF CLASS ACTION SETTLEMENT
EASTERN DISTRICT OF MISSOURI
Mackey v. Belden, Inc., Case No. 4:21-cv-00149 (E.D. Mo.)
If Belden Inc. or its authorized representative sent a notice to you concerning a November 2020 data security incident, you may be eligible for a cash payment from a class action settlement.
A court authorized this notice. This is not a solicitation from a lawyer.
The settlement has been reached with Belden, Inc. (“Belden”) in a class action lawsuit asserting claims against Belden relating to a data security incident that occurred in November 2020 in which a third party launched a criminal cyberattack against Belden and gained unauthorized access to Belden’s servers (the “Cyberattack”), which included certain personally identifiable information of certain of Belden’s current and former employees and/or their beneficiaries. Plaintiffs claim that Belden bears legal responsibility for the Cyberattack. Belden denies all of the claims. The settlement does not establish who is correct and is not an admission of fault, but rather is a compromise to end the lawsuit.
The settlement includes all individuals residing in the United States to whom Belden or its authorized representative sent a notice concerning the Cyberattack.
The settlement provides payments to people who submit valid claims for certain documented unreimbursed out-of-pocket expenses; documented unreimbursed fees for credit reports, credit monitoring and identity theft protection services they purchased from November 24, 2020 to October 26, 2022; and compensation for time they spent remedying issues related to the Cyberattack. It also provides for forty-two (42) months of complimentary identity protection and credit monitoring services.
Your legal rights are affected even if you do nothing. Read this notice carefully.
